You plan to deploy a website to Azure. The website will be accessed by users worldwide and will host large video files. You need to recommend which…

An Azure Content Delivery Network (CDN) is the ideal solution for this scenario. A CDN is a distributed network of servers that caches static content, such as large video files, at strategically placed edge locations (Points of Presence) around the world. When a user requests a video, the CDN delivers it from the cache at the location geographically closest to them. This process significantly reduces latency, minimizes loading times, and provides a smooth, high-quality playback experience for a global user base, which directly addresses the core requirements of the question.

A. an Azure Traffic Manager profile: Azure Traffic Manager is a DNS-based load balancer that directs user traffic to different service endpoints in various Azure regions, but it does not cache content closer to the user.

C. an Azure ExpressRoute circuit: Azure ExpressRoute establishes a private, dedicated connection between an on-premises network and Azure. It is not used for delivering content to public users over the internet.

D. an application gateway: Azure Application Gateway is a regional Layer 7 load balancer and Web Application Firewall (WAF). It manages traffic to web applications within a region, but does not distribute content globally.

1. Microsoft Learn. "What is a content delivery network on Azure?". Azure CDN Documentation. "A content delivery network (CDN) is a distributed network of servers that can efficiently deliver web content to users. CDNs store cached content on edge servers in point-of-presence (POP) locations that are close to end users, to minimize latency." This source directly supports the use of CDN for minimizing latency for a global audience.

2. Microsoft Learn. "What is Traffic Manager?". Azure Traffic Manager Documentation. "Azure Traffic Manager is a DNS-based traffic load balancer. This service allows you to distribute traffic to your public facing applications across the global Azure regions." This clarifies that Traffic Manager routes traffic at the DNS level but does not cache content like a CDN.

3. Microsoft Learn. "What is Azure Application Gateway?". Azure Application Gateway Documentation. "Azure Application Gateway is a web traffic load balancer that enables you to manage traffic to your web applications... Application Gateway is a regional service". This confirms Application Gateway is a regional service, not a global content distribution solution.

4. Microsoft Learn. "Azure ExpressRoute documentation". Azure ExpressRoute Documentation. "Azure ExpressRoute lets you extend your on-premises networks into the Microsoft cloud over a private connection...". This defines ExpressRoute's purpose as private hybrid connectivity, making it unsuitable for this public-facing scenario.
