In InstructLab the component that explicitly enforces how answers should look and “sound’’ is the prompt-tuning engine. During LAB’s data-generation loop this engine prepends a configurable system prompt (format rules, tone guides, persona, etc.) and iteratively adjusts prompt tokens so that every synthesized instruction-response pair already reflects the required customer-support style. Because the model is then fine-tuned on that aligned corpus, the learnt behaviour carries the exact format and tone demanded for customer interactions. Other components either optimise hyper-parameters, test the model, or merely report metrics; they do not imprint stylistic alignment.

B. Instruction optimizer searches learning-rate, batch-size, etc.; it improves accuracy but does not dictate output style or tone.

C. User simulation environment only runs test dialogs to gauge behaviour; it does not teach the model formatting rules.

D. Evaluation metrics dashboard passively reports scores; it cannot influence how the model crafts its responses.
