What does RACI stand for?

The RACI matrix is a responsibility assignment chart used in project management to clarify roles and responsibilities for tasks or deliverables. It ensures clear communication and smooth workflow by defining who is Responsible (does the work), who is Accountable (owns the work and has the final say), who must be Consulted (provides input through two-way communication), and who must be Informed (is kept up-to-date through one-way communication). This framework is essential in clinical data management to coordinate activities among various stakeholders like data managers, CRAs, statisticians, and sponsors.

A. "Contribute" and "Input" describe actions associated with the "Consulted" role but are not the formal terms used in the standard RACI acronym.

B. These terms (Recommend, Approve, Calibrate, Innovate) are not part of the standard RACI model and represent a different, non-standard framework.

C. While conceptually related, the standard RACI model uses adjectives/participles (Responsible, Accountable) to describe the roles, not nouns (Responsibility, Accountability).

The document states: "A RACI matrix is a tool that can be used to document the roles and responsibilities of individuals in a project or process. RACI stands for Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed."

This chapter details the use of project management tools in clinical research, defining the RACI matrix as Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed for clarifying team roles.
