What ensures the correct replacement of a PSU in PowerStore?

Verifying the Light Emitting Diode (LED) status is a critical step in the PowerStore Power Supply Unit (PSU) replacement procedure. Before removal, the amber fault LED identifies the specific PSU that has failed. After installing the new PSU, observing the status LEDs—typically a solid green light for both AC and DC power—confirms that the new unit is properly seated, receiving power, and functioning correctly. This visual verification ensures the replacement was successful without interrupting system operations, as PSUs are designed to be hot-swappable.

A. Replace both PSUs at the same time: This is incorrect. PowerStore appliances use redundant PSUs for high availability; replacing both simultaneously would cause a complete power loss and a system outage.

C. Place node in maintenance mode: This is not required. PSUs are enclosure-level Field Replaceable Units (FRUs) and are hot-swappable. Node maintenance mode is for servicing node-specific components.

D. Power off both controllers: This is incorrect. Powering off the controllers (nodes) would cause a full system shutdown. PSU replacement is a non-disruptive online procedure.

Reference: In the section "Replacing a power supply in a base enclosure

" Step 6 explicitly states: "Verify that the power supply AC and DC power status LEDs are green." This confirms that checking the LEDs is a mandatory verification step in the official procedure.

" the section "Power supply LEDs" details the meaning of each LED state (AC Power

DC Power

Fault). For example

a lit amber Fault LED indicates a "power supply fault." This documentation establishes the LEDs as the primary physical indicators for PSU status

essential for both fault identification and replacement verification.
