Which statement best explains why data cleaning is important?

Data cleaning is a foundational step in data science and software development because the quality of input data directly determines the quality of the output. This concept is often summarized as "Garbage In, Garbage Out" (GIGO). Poor-quality data—which can be inaccurate, incomplete, inconsistent, or improperly formatted—can lead to misleading analytical results, flawed business decisions, and software errors or crashes. Cleaning the data ensures its accuracy and reliability, which is essential for any meaningful subsequent processing.

B. Data cleaning is a software process that consumes CPU resources; it does not physically alter CPU hardware speed.

C. Data cleaning involves various methods like removing duplicates or filling missing values, not a universal conversion to a specific data structure.

D. Data cleaning is a data management task and is completely unrelated to operating system maintenance.
