The communications products and services, which ensure that the various components of a network (such as devices, protocols, and access methods) work…

Network architecture is the comprehensive framework that defines the design and structure of a communication network. It specifies how network components—including physical devices (routers, switches), logical protocols (TCP/IP), and access methods (Ethernet, Wi-Fi)—are organized and interact to provide services. This architectural blueprint ensures that all disparate parts can interoperate effectively and reliably, fulfilling the function described in the question. It encompasses the principles, protocols, and standards that govern network communication.

A. Netware Architecture: This refers to the specific, proprietary network operating system architecture developed by Novell. It is an example of a network architecture, not the general term for the concept.

C. WAN Architecture: This is a subset of network architecture that deals specifically with the design of Wide Area Networks (WANs), which span large geographical areas. The question is more general.

D. Multiprotocol Architecture: This describes a specific capability of a network to support multiple communication protocols simultaneously (e.g., IP and IPX), rather than the overall design framework itself.

"To reduce their design complexity

most networks are organized as a stack of layers or levels

each one built upon the one below it."
