What are the key activities involved in the Processing Information stage?

The "Processing Information" stage in a Management of Value (MoV) study refers to the core workshop activities where gathered data is transformed into value-improving proposals. This stage logically follows the initial information gathering. The key activities are sequential: first, the information is analyzed (e.g., through Function Analysis) to understand the subject's components and costs. Second, creativity and innovation techniques are used to generate alternative ideas for performing the identified functions. Finally, these ideas undergo evaluation and selection against predefined criteria to identify the most viable options for development.

A. This option incorrectly includes "Preparation," which is a pre-study activity, and "facilitation," which is an enabling skill applied throughout the process, not a discrete activity within this stage.

C. This option incorrectly includes "Preparation" and "target-setting," which are pre-study planning activities that occur before the core information processing workshop begins.

D. This option incorrectly includes "Selection of team" and "preparation of Study Handbook," which are foundational activities belonging to the "Plan the MoV Study" phase, not the information processing stage.

Section 11.2, Figure 11.1 'The MoV process': This diagram clearly separates the 'Plan the MoV study' activities (like preparation) from the 'Carry out the MoV study' activities. The core processing activities are shown as a sequence: Information, Analysis, Creativity, Evaluation, and Development. Option B directly maps to the Analysis, Creativity, and Evaluation steps.

Sections 11.5 'Analysis', 11.6 'Creativity', and 11.7 'Evaluation': These sections provide detailed descriptions of the activities mentioned in the correct answer. Analysis involves techniques like Function Analysis. Creativity is about generating ideas. Evaluation involves assessing those ideas against value drivers and other criteria to select the best ones for development. This confirms that these three activities are the central components of processing information to create value.
