A customer is modernizing its data center and wants to improve efficiency for AI workloads. Which area is most relevant to sustainability discussions?

AI workloads are highly compute-intensive and consume significant amounts of power and cooling resources. When modernizing a data center for AI, focusing on AI-ready data center design and efficient infrastructure is paramount for sustainability. This involves deploying high-density, energy-efficient servers (like Cisco UCS X-Series), optimizing cooling systems, and utilizing intelligent power management to reduce the Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE). Efficient infrastructure ensures that the massive energy demands of AI are met responsibly, minimizing greenhouse gas emissions and operational costs while maximizing compute performance per watt. By integrating smart facilities and optimized hardware, organizations can scale AI capabilities without proportionally increasing their carbon footprint.

B. Manual paper-based reporting is inefficient, prone to errors, and contradicts digital transformation and sustainability goals.

C. Removing monitoring tools eliminates visibility into energy consumption, making it impossible to optimize power usage or track sustainability metrics.

D. Increasing idle hardware wastes energy and resources, directly opposing sustainability principles which aim to maximize utilization and reduce unnecessary power draw.
