What is the benefit of tracking SOW for a Retailer in a particular category?

Share of Wallet (SOW) is a key performance indicator for a retailer that measures the percentage of a customer's spending within a category that is captured by that specific retailer. The primary benefit of tracking SOW is to identify opportunities to increase sales from the existing customer base. By understanding how much their current shoppers are spending on the category elsewhere, a retailer can develop targeted strategies (e.g., promotions, assortment improvements) to persuade these shoppers to consolidate their purchases and allocate a larger portion of their category budget to their store.

B. This is too broad. SOW is specific to a retailer's share of a shopper's wallet, not just general spending in the marketplace.

C. This describes a customer acquisition strategy, which aims to attract new shoppers, rather than a SOW strategy focused on existing customers.

D. This is a general market share objective. SOW is a customer-centric metric focused on deepening the relationship with current shoppers.
