What describes the term predictive maintenance?

Predictive maintenance is a proactive maintenance strategy that uses real-time monitoring of equipment condition and performance data to predict when maintenance should be performed. This approach relies on continuous monitoring through sensors and data analytics to identify patterns that indicate potential failures before they occur. Unlike preventive maintenance which follows fixed schedules, predictive maintenance optimizes maintenance timing based on actual equipment condition, reducing unnecessary maintenance while preventing unexpected breakdowns.

A. This describes preventive/scheduled maintenance, not predictive maintenance.

C. This describes reliability-centered maintenance using historical data, not real-time monitoring.

D. This describes condition-based maintenance triggered by detected issues, not predictive analytics.
