How is a promotion linked to a Retail Store?

In Salesforce Consumer Goods Cloud, the Promotion Channel object serves as the junction object that links a Promotion record to an Account record. Since a Retail Store is represented by an Account record, the Promotion Channel record is the specific mechanism used to associate a promotion with one or more individual retail stores. This design allows for a flexible many-to-many relationship, where a single promotion can be active across various stores (channels), and a single store can participate in multiple promotions.

A. Through a related list on the Retail Store Group object: A Retail Store Group is a grouping of stores. While a promotion can be linked to a group, the Promotion Channel object is still the underlying mechanism that creates this association, not a direct related list on the group object itself.

B. Through a Promotion Delivery Method: This object defines how a promotion is delivered (e.g., in-store display, coupon), not where the promotion is active.

D. Through an account associated with the Retail Store: This is too general. While the Retail Store is an Account, this option doesn't specify the required junction object (Promotion Channel) that actually creates the link to the Promotion record.

1. Salesforce Help, Consumer Goods Cloud Developer Guide, "Promotions in Consumer Goods Cloud": This document explicitly states, "Use the Promotion Channel object to associate a promotion with a store or store group. The Promotion Channel object links a promotion with an account. The account can be a store, a store group, or a distributor."

2. Salesforce Help, Consumer Goods Cloud Implementation Guide, "Set Up Promotions": The setup process described in this guide confirms the data model. Step 4 of the process is: "Then, associate the promotion with a store or a store group by creating a promotion channel." This highlights the Promotion Channel as the essential linking record.

3. Salesforce Help, Consumer Goods Cloud Developer Guide, "Consumer Goods Cloud Data Model": The entity relationship diagram for Promotions shows the Promotion object connected to the Account object via the Promotion Channel junction object. This visual representation confirms that Promotion Channel is the direct link.
