What is the use of Copado Functions Callback?

The Copado Function Callback is a crucial mechanism for asynchronous operations. When a function is executed on a separate platform (e.g., Heroku), it runs independently. The callback URL is used by that platform to communicate the final execution status (success or failure), logs, and any generated artifacts back to the corresponding Result record in Copado. This ensures the user story deployment or quality gate step is updated accurately, providing visibility into the outcome of the function's execution.

A. To invoke a function from an external system: This is incorrect. Webhooks or the Copado API are used to invoke functions from external systems, not the callback.

B. To pass initial parameters to a function before it executes: This is incorrect. Parameters are defined on the function record and passed in the initial request, not via the callback mechanism.

D. To chain multiple functions together in a sequence: This is incorrect. Function sequencing is handled by defining them as consecutive steps in a deployment or quality gate, not through callbacks.

Copado Documentation, "Function Callback". This section explicitly states, "The callback is used to send the result of the function execution back to Copado and update the result record."

Copado Documentation, "Create a Function". The documentation details the flow where the execution platform uses the callback URL provided by Copado to post the results back.
