What is the function of the CONCATENATE function in Excel?

The CONCATENATE function in Microsoft Excel is a text function used to join two or more text strings into a single string. The items to be joined can be text strings, numbers, or cell references. While this function is still available for backward compatibility, Microsoft recommends using the CONCAT function or the ampersand (&) operator for newer versions of Excel, as they offer more flexibility. The primary purpose remains the same: combining separate pieces of text into one.

A. Conditional fill is managed through Conditional Formatting rules, which change a cell's appearance based on specified criteria, not by the CONCATENATE function.

C. The AVERAGE function is used to calculate the arithmetic mean of a range of numbers, a completely different operation from text manipulation.

D. Creating a new worksheet is a user interface action or a task performed via VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), not a result of a cell formula like CONCATENATE.
