What is the primary source of electrical power for a data centre under normal operating conditions?

Under normal operating conditions, a data center's primary and continuous source of electrical power is the commercial utility grid. This grid provides the large, stable, and cost-effective power required to run IT equipment and support infrastructure. Backup power systems, such as diesel generators and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) with batteries, are secondary sources designed to activate only in the event of a utility power failure.

A. Diesel generators are a secondary, standby power source used for prolonged utility outages, not normal operations.

C. A battery bank is a short-term bridge power source within a UPS, covering the gap until a generator starts.

D. Solar panel arrays are typically a supplemental power source, not the primary source for a mission-critical facility.
